John Cattarulla, Tapad
John Cattarulla is the Regional Vice President, Southeast, for Tapad, the undisputed leader in cross-device content delivery. John is President Emeritus of the Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association. In his capacity as President of AIMA John was responsible for creating and leading the long-term vision for this not-for-profit organization. He was responsible for ensuring appropriate financing, talent, and facilities were in place, and he oversaw the strategic responsibilities for content programming, revenue, corporate sponsorship, membership, and marketing.
From 2011 – 2013 John served as the Director of the Southeast for Specific Media & MySpace, where he was responsible for building and leading a world-class sales team covering 8 states plus the District of Columbia. John’s team collaborated with advertisers and agencies to deliver seamless audience targeting across both the #2 largest online display ad network and #2 largest video ad network. Previously, from 2008 – 2011, John served as a Director at Microsoft Advertising, which encompasses digital media brands such as MSN, MSNBC, Bing, WonderWall, and XBox. His team was responsible for providing integrated advertising solutions to Fortune 500 clients.
Prior to joining Microsoft, John spent 4 years with Yahoo where he built and led their South East Regional Search Practice. Before his tenure with Yahoo, John spent 5 years as Sr. Director at Alloy/ 360 Youth in New York City creating youth-targeted multi-media campaigns.
A graduate of Cornell University, John lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife and son. For fun, John plays in baseball in an amateur men’s league, races cars, and roots for the Dallas Cowboys.
John Kelvie, XAPPmedia
John Kelvie is the CTO and Co-Founder of XAPPmedia. XAPP Ads and Content Promos represent a new way to leverage audio advertising to drive consumer engagement and conversion. Since 1922, radio has provided a valuable one-way medium for reaching consumers. While “talking at” consumers may develop awareness, it doesn’t lead to efficient conversion or a better user experience. XAPP Ads and Content Promos facilitate two-way communication by voice that can deliver instant engagement for brands and audio publishers.
John has over fifteen years of experience as an entrepreneur, CTO and developer. His passion is building software, and teams, from day zero to market leaders. John was co-founder and Chief Architect of Overture Technologies, an innovator in automated underwriting systems for mortgage and higher education. At Overture, he built the engineering team to over twenty developers and the software was recognized as the premium offering in large-scale mortgage underwriting. He then served as CTO of ODIN Technologies where he led development and initiated the company’s transition from services to a leading RFID software company.
Immediately prior to XAPPmedia, John was founder of Atomizer Software where he focused on mobile, educational game development and experiential social software. Early in his career he worked for both iXL and American Management Systems. John is a graduate from Duke University.
Xander Kotsatos, Mobile Strategist, East Coast, RocketFuel
A 6-year AdTech veteran, Xander has managed strategy across mobile, display, video, social and affiliate programs for some of the largest Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. His dedication to building campaigns that drive performance is surpassed only by his passion for the mobile space and its ability to create true impact for brands in a multi-screen world.
In his current position as the East Coast Mobile Strategy Lead for Rocket Fuel, Xander works with a world-class team to leverage artificial intelligence and big data to make mobile a measurable and results-driven marketing channel. Prior to his current role, Xander worked across agency sales, strategy and client services in the DC, New York and Boston markets for both Rocket Fuel and ValueClick Media (now Conversant div. of Alliance Data) where he developed strong partner relationships to build breakthrough digital advertising programs across almost every major vertical.
A graduate of Colby College, Xander lives in New York with his wife. When not skiing or playing music, Xander is an avid Fantasy Football Player.
Amy Sample, PBS
Amy Sample has been analyzing digital consumer behavior for more than 15 years. As Senior Director of Digital Analytics at PBS, she manages the digital analytics and SEO team. She supports analytics and digital research initiatives for PBS.org, PBSKIDS.org, PBS mobile and OTT apps. Her team also provides analytics and SEO consultations for PBS member stations. Prior to PBS, she conducted primary research and audience analysis at AOL for 8 years. She is a co-leader of the Digital Analytics Association’s Washington DC chapter and a member of the DAA’s Media Special Interest Group and. Amy holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BS in Marketing from DePaul University.
Julia Horwitz, EPIC Consumer Protection Counsel
Julia Horwitz is the Coordinator of EPIC’s Open Government Program and was the 2012-2013 EPIC Open Government Fellow. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a B.A. in American Literature. Ms. Horwitz was a recipient of the 2011 Charles H. March Fellowship at the Federal Trade Commission and the International Association of Privacy Professionals 2012 Summit scholarship. While studying at Chicago Law, Ms. Horwitz was the Intellectual Property Law Society’s Vice President for Online and Media, and competed in the 2011 International Trademark Association’s Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition.
